# RALLY AGAINST THE PAY RISE. 0900 SATURDAY, SUVA CIVIC CENTRE CARPARK. BE THERE!

Posted on June 21, 2024 25 Comments

GD is unwell. But before I take to my sick bed with the flu, here's an important message: Vani for prime minister! She is wiping the floor with Sitiveni Rabuka and the other moral pygmies in government and the opposition. She is fearless, articulate and has the moral clarity the nation needs to really start focusing on the needs of those who … [Read more...] about # RALLY AGAINST THE PAY RISE. 0900 SATURDAY, SUVA CIVIC CENTRE CARPARK. # THE HEAD OF STATE UTTERLY COMPROMISED

Posted on June 20, 2024 34 Comments

Does Fiji now have three foreign ministers – the main Foreign Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka, his deputy, Lenora Qereqeretabua and H.E the President, Ratu Wiliame Katonivere? It sure looks that way when the President – who is meant to be above politics - represents Fiji at a political gathering of world leaders to muster support for Ukraine against the … [Read more...] about # THE HEAD OF STATE UTTERLY COMPROMISED

# IS THIS WHAT THE FUTURE HOLDS? AIYAZ DIES IN JAIL AND GEORGE BECOMES PRIME MINISTER?

Posted on June 19, 2024 32 Comments

So Magistrate Yogesh Prasad (any relation?) denies Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum permission to travel to Singapore for further medical treatment. Oh well. At least I get to keep my own kidney in my rash bet that if he was allowed to leave, the ousted AG would return. (see previous stories). The learned Magistrate disagrees. … [Read more...] about # IS THIS WHAT THE FUTURE HOLDS? AIYAZ DIES IN JAIL AND GEORGE BECOMES PRIME MINISTER?

# HERE WE GO AGAIN. MORE INSTABILITY

Posted on June 19, 2024 28 Comments

The Fiji Times is a miserable rag of a newspaper at the best of times. But it totally crosses the line today by using a convicted felon who took part in the 2000 coup to call for the release of the coup frontman, George Speight. Journalist Joe Nata spent 23 years in prison for his part in the rebellion. He has served his time and deserves his … [Read more...] about # HERE WE GO AGAIN. MORE INSTABILITY

# BIB ‘N’ BUB. THEY REALLY DO THINK WE ARE STUPID

Posted on June 18, 2024 28 Comments

It is astonishing that Biman Prasad and Richard Naidu hold the Fijian people in such contempt that they maintain the pretence of that they are independent of each other when they are one and the same. The Fiscal Review Committee - which is chaired by NFP stalwart Richard Naidu - is a creation of Biman Prasad. He uses it as a device to give … [Read more...] about # BIB ‘N’ BUB. # JUST LET HIM GO

Posted on June 18, 2024 44 Comments

There was an ugly element to yesterday's attempt by Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum to get permission to travel to Singapore for medical treatment - the conduct of the state prosecutor, Nancy Tikoisuva, one of the also-rans who have been elevated in the ODPP by the illegally appointed Acting DPP, John Rabuku. It is perfectly acceptable in any case for the … [Read more...] about # JUST LET HIM GO

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
