# A LOSS THAT MUST NEVER BE REPEATED

Posted on March 4, 2024 10 Comments

Our national heritage - like that of any nation - is priceless yet many Fijians seem to have been indifferent to just how much we lost when an important part of our history went up in smoke with the fire that consumed the 109-year old Defence Club in Suva a week ago. There was the odd media reference to the destruction of the historical relics … [Read more...] about # A LOSS THAT MUST NEVER BE REPEATED

# THE LONG WAIT CONTINUES

Posted on March 2, 2024 21 Comments

Wondering what is happening with the investigation into the antics of the Great Temptress in Room 233? The Fiji Times finally seizes on the story to tell us. Nothing. This suggests one of two things. The People's Alliance is torn between doing the right thing and recommending that the Minister for Women and Children be sacked and needing … [Read more...] about # THE LONG WAIT CONTINUES

# WISE BY NAME, WISE BY NATURE

Sa dina, Wise. And the sickest joke of the week was the spectacle of the Attorney General, Siromi Turaga, hobnobbing at the GCC with the Qaranivalu - the high chief of Naitasiri, Ratu Inoke Takiveikata - who he recently freed from prison after the Qaranivalu served a 13 year sentence for instigating the mutiny in the RFMF in 2000. Siromi Turaga … [Read more...] about # WISE BY NAME, WISE BY NATURE

# UNREPRESENTATIVE SWILL?

Posted on March 1, 2024 32 Comments

The former Australian Prime Minister, Paul Keating, once triggered a furore when he described the upper house of the Australian parliament - the Senate - as "unrepresentative swill". About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
