# ALLEGATIONS OF POLICE INVOLVEMENT IN THE DRUG TRADE SHATTER THE ILLUSION OF UNITY IN THE RFMF

Posted on December 10, 2025 23 Comments

In an extraordinary series of events, one of the most senior officers in the RFMF, Brigadier General Manoa Gadai, has broken ranks and demanded action on allegations of police involvement in the drug trade, prompting a very public reprimand from the Minister for Defence, the NFP's Pio Tikoduadua. The Brigadier General's intervention was prompted … [Read more...] about # ALLEGATIONS OF POLICE INVOLVEMENT IN THE DRUG TRADE SHATTER THE ILLUSION OF UNITY IN THE RFMF

# GONE TO WATER. LOOK WHO SPONSORED THE ORGY OF SELF-CONGRATULATION BY THE SELF-RIGHTEOUS POSEURS OF THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA

Posted on December 9, 2025 18 Comments

The British satirical magazine, Private Eye, used to cry "Pass the sick bag, Alice" whenever a story emerged that triggered a bout of collective gagging because it was so brazen and shameful. In Fiji at the weekend, it was "Pass the sick bag, Rosi" as the Fiji Sun's Rosi Doviverata - the President of the Fiji Media Association - tried to pass … [Read more...] about # GONE TO WATER. # COMMONMAN LIFTS THE VEIL ON A GRASSROOTS ITAUKEI REBELLION AGAINST THE CHIEFS

Posted on December 8, 2025 21 Comments

GD writes: The notion of indigenous Fijians as a monolithic, indivisible racial entity - a people united behind their chiefs - is turned on its head in a startling new article by CommonMan, Grubsheet's columnist in the vanua, which points to deep divisions among the iTaukei about the conduct of the GCC. It is startling not only because CommonMan … [Read more...] about # COMMONMAN LIFTS THE VEIL ON A GRASSROOTS ITAUKEI REBELLION AGAINST THE CHIEFS

# THE PROVOCATIONS THAT TRIGGERED THE 2006 COUP RE-EMERGE BUT WITH NO-ONE TO STAND UP FOR THE MINORITIES

Posted on December 7, 2025 13 Comments

Fiji's minorities have cause to be afraid - very afraid - as Sitiveni Rabuka's Coalition government - in an unholy alliance with the Great Council of Chiefs - steps up its attempt to assert indigenous supremacy and marginalise other citizens. We long ago realised that we were all conned by Rabuka's assurance that he had learned the lessons of … [Read more...] about # THE PROVOCATIONS THAT TRIGGERED THE 2006 COUP RE-EMERGE BUT WITH NO-ONE TO STAND UP FOR THE MINORITIES

# COMMONMAN HIT A RAW NERVE WHEN HE CRITICISED THE RFMF MATANIGASAU TO THE GCC. HE IS UNREPENTANT (UPDATED SAT AM)

Posted on December 5, 2025 20 Comments

The GCC Chairman’s comments about how he found criticism of the RFMF’s matanigasau to the Great Council of Chiefs ‘unfortunate’ is thought provoking as it reveals the tension between culture and politics. Even more interesting is that this controversy persisted for a full week after the actual event concluded, especially on social media where … [Read more...] about # COMMONMAN HIT A RAW NERVE WHEN HE CRITICISED THE RFMF MATANIGASAU TO THE GCC. # A NEW MARA ERA LOOMS AS RATU TEVITA CONTEMPLATES WIELDING HIS POWER AS THE SOLE D’HONDT “BIG MAN” CAPABLE OF DISLODGING SITIVENI RABUKA (UPDATED)

Posted on December 2, 2025 41 Comments

The assumption that the removal of Frank Bainimarama from being able to contest next year's election means the inevitable triumph of Sitiveni Rabuka has been turned on its head with speculation that Ratu Tevita Mara - the newly-installed high chief of Lau - is destined to enter the political fray and take up the mantle of his father - the nation's … [Read more...] about # A NEW MARA ERA LOOMS AS RATU TEVITA CONTEMPLATES WIELDING HIS POWER AS THE SOLE D’HONDT “BIG MAN” CAPABLE OF DISLODGING SITIVENI RABUKA (UPDATED)

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
