WHAT HAPPENED TO RAM KUMARI?

Posted on February 19, 2024 28 Comments

Amid all the stories in the media of the police war on drugs, this report in today’s Fiji Sun raises some serious questions about police conduct towards the elderly. The Sun says 81 year old Ram Kumari of Rarawai, Ba, is "alleged" to have collapsed and died on Saturday while being questioned by police at the Ba Police Station. No, it is not … [Read more...] about WHAT HAPPENED TO RAM KUMARI?

# A PLEA TO STOP MY “BITTER AND REGURGITATED OPINIONS” (UPDATED)

Posted on February 18, 2024 26 Comments

Grubsheet has received correspondence from Michael J Fairfax - the co-owner of Fiji's biggest construction company, Pacific Building Solutions - castigating me for being excessively negative when, according to him, there is a great deal of positive news about the economy arising from new construction projects that are currently in the pipeline. … [Read more...] about # A PLEA TO STOP MY “BITTER AND REGURGITATED OPINIONS” (UPDATED)

# MISSING IN ACTION

Posted on February 18, 2024 19 Comments

One of the great things about Grubsheet having been kicked off Facebook courtesy of Lynda Tabuya and reactivating our website has been the torrent of thoughtful comments from our readers about the state of the nation. And it is pretty grim all round, with a deep sense of disillusionment being expressed by many people about a lack of national … [Read more...] about # MISSING IN ACTION

# LYNDA’S DÉCOLLETAGE GETS GRUBSHEET INTO TROUBLE (AGAIN)

Posted on February 17, 2024 22 Comments

As the People’s Alliance disciplinary inquiry decides what to do about Lynda Tabuya’s alleged drug-fuelled sex romp with Aseri Radrodro, the Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection has evidently filed a second complaint with Australia’s eSafety Commission about an image Grubsheet has continued to publish showing her ample cleavage – the … [Read more...] about # LYNDA’S DÉCOLLETAGE GETS GRUBSHEET INTO TROUBLE (AGAIN)

# MODERN DAY “COOLIES”

Posted on February 16, 2024 20 Comments

This front page picture in today's Fiji Times is a powerful symbol of how the racists in the "new order" regard the minorities in Fiji - subservient and good only to serve the interests of the iTaukei majority. Having sacked the Assistant DPP, Elizabeth Rice, for being "white" and got rid of a long-standing Indo-Fijian administrative assistant … [Read more...] about # MODERN DAY “COOLIES”

# STATING THE OBVIOUS WHILE IGNORING THE OBVIOUS

Posted on February 15, 2024 13 Comments

Who needs a PR advisor when you've got the Fiji Times? It has taken the paper 155 years to develop the editorial skills to bring the Fijian people today's pearl of a headline quoting the Great Temptress: "Use of children to peddle drugs is illegal, says Tabuya". Oh really? You mean that it is against the law to use kids to sell drugs? Well, I … [Read more...] about # STATING THE OBVIOUS WHILE IGNORING THE OBVIOUS

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
