# BEN NALIVA “ENTITLED TO THE PRESUMPTION OF INNOCENCE”

Posted on February 15, 2024 5 Comments

It looks very much as if the allegations of human rights abuses against Colonel Ben Naliva - the RFMF officer appointed Deputy Commander of the Australian Army's 7th Brigade - are going to have to be tested at a formal inquiry, judging from comments to an Australian parliamentary hearing by the Chief of the Australian Defence Force. General … [Read more...] about # BEN NALIVA “ENTITLED TO THE PRESUMPTION OF INNOCENCE”

# BEN NALIVA’S ADF APPOINTMENT UNRAVELS

Under the blowtorch of Senate hearings in Canberra, the head of the Australian Defence Force takes the blame for the appointment of RFMF Colonel Ben Naliva as Deputy Commander of the 7th Brigade and concedes that the ADF failed to check whether there were human rights abuse allegations against him. General Angus Campbell says Colonel Naliva … [Read more...] about # BEN NALIVA’S ADF APPOINTMENT UNRAVELS

# NO CHOICE BUT TO REBUILD THE FIJI POLICE

Posted on February 14, 2024 8 Comments

It has become distressingly obvious that the Fiji Police is rotten to the core - its integrity so compromised that far from being guardian and protector, the Force has become a danger to public safety. The drug trade is now so pervasive and its impact so insidious that every time there is a victory in the war against drugs, it is undermined by … [Read more...] about # NO CHOICE BUT TO REBUILD THE FIJI POLICE

# GOOD NIGHT. SLEEP TIGHT (UPDATED)

Posted on February 13, 2024 5 Comments

For the second time in a week, Frank Bainimarama is spending the night in police custody - this time not with Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum and Dr Neil Sharma but with "Tuks" - his trusted surrogate son, the suspended Police Commissioner, Sitiveni Qiliho. The pair have been charged with abuse of office and will appear in court tomorrow. It is a far cry … [Read more...] about # GOOD NIGHT. SLEEP TIGHT (UPDATED)

# WHY IS HE GETTING ALL THE FREE PUBLICITY?

Posted on February 13, 2024 10 Comments

Is there any woman in Fiji who believes she has been wronged by Grubsheet who is prepared to make a withering public attack that can get me what Victor Lal has got - the LEAD item on CFL-Fiji Village? Because it just isn't fair that he is getting this kind of celebrity treatment and I'm not. I'm surely just as bad as he is at covering stories … [Read more...] about # WHY IS HE GETTING ALL THE FREE PUBLICITY?

# MORE RACIAL INJUSTICE

Posted on February 13, 2024 11 Comments

Sharvada Sharma waited more than two years for justice after he was unlawfully sacked as solicitor general by the Bainimarama government and finally got it last month when the High Court ruled in his favour and awarded him $3-million in compensation. Now the Coalition government - which had expressed its support for Sharvada Sharma - doesn't … [Read more...] about # MORE RACIAL INJUSTICE

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
