Posted on January 17, 2024 7 Comments

These are the text exchanges between the Minister for Women and Children and the Minister for Education that the Fijian government - while preaching a new era of media freedom - doesn't want you to see. Publishing the accompanying images on Facebook has resulted in Grubsheet having its Facebook page disabled after representations from the Fijian … [Read more...] about # TEXT EXCHANGES BETWEEN LYNDA TABUYA AND ASERI RADRODRO

# AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR MY FIJIAN FACEBOOK READERS

Posted on January 17, 2024 2 Comments

The Grubsheet Facebook page has been disabled by Facebook after complaints from the Fijian government and others about my coverage of the sex and drug scandal involving the Coalition ministers, Lynda Tabuya and Aseri Radrodro. For the moment, the material can still be viewed by my 30,000 Facebook "followers" and tens of thousands of casual … [Read more...] about # AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR MY FIJIAN FACEBOOK READERS

Dozens of Suva families are gathering this morning at the Yue Lai hotel and restaurant in Flagstaff for its celebrated yum cha. Yet without knowing that at the same time (1030 Sunday Fiji time) influential members of the Chinese community in Fiji have been summoned to a meeting in another part of the building to discuss how to thwart the United … [Read more...] about # CHINESE WHISPERS. BREAKING NEWS… So the saga of the Amadea and its enforced stay in Fiji is finally over. Unless the Russians use an implanted device to blow the vessel to smithereens (a genuine threat that has been factored into US security concerns), the seized super yacht is set to leave the port of Lautoka for the US within hours. Click on the following … [Read more...] about # AMADEA SET TO LEAVE FIJI

If you're as confused as most people by the exact circumstances surrounding the continuing presence in Fiji of the Russian superyacht, Amadea, join the club. Here’s our modest attempt to cut through the fog. 12 days ago - on April 14 - the CJ Patel Fiji Sun newspaper trumpeted an exclusive with the Police Commissioner, Sitiveni Qilihio, … [Read more...] about # THE SAGA OF THE AMADEA

# ANSWERS PLEASE, AG

Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum’s claim in the parliament that he didn’t flee Fiji in 1987 has again thrown a spotlight on the allegations that he made and detonated bombs as part of the Indo-Fijian resistance movement against the Sitiveni Rabuka-led coups. There are people who were part of the same movement who are shaking their heads in astonishment that … [Read more...] about # ANSWERS PLEASE, AG

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
