# THE COI DOESN’T GET ITS “URGENT” MEETING WITH THE PM BUT THE FICAC ACTING DEPUTY COM GETS A THREE YEAR CONTRACT

Posted on March 3, 2025 41 Comments

It beggars belief that the supposedly free Fijian media has allowed the "Snake" - Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka - to slither out of granting the request by the Commission of Inquiry into the appointment of Barbara Malimali as FICAC Commissioner for an "urgent meeting" to appeal for her suspension to prevent her intimidating FICAC … [Read more...] about # THE COI DOESN’T GET ITS “URGENT” MEETING WITH THE PM BUT THE FICAC ACTING DEPUTY COM GETS A THREE YEAR CONTRACT

# BIMAN PRASAD. UNDER SEIGE AND LOSING IT

Posted on March 2, 2025 42 Comments

We know that Biman Prasad is under intense pressure when he threatens to use Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum's law making it a crime to "undermine or sabotage" the national economy against the Unity Party leader, Savenaca Narube. But that's how paranoid the NFP leader and Deputy Prime Minister has become as the noose tightens around his political neck in the … [Read more...] about # BIMAN PRASAD. UNDER SEIGE AND LOSING IT

# A SATURDAY SNAPSHOT. DESPERATE TIMES OF CHRONIC HOPELESSNESS AND DESPAIR

Posted on March 1, 2025 34 Comments

Things couldn't be much worse in Fiji as the collapse of government services worsens and our politicians are locked in a blame game while our institutions crumble and ordinary people suffer. Hope is in very short supply as we go further and further down the Zimbabwe road of failed infrastructure, a failed criminal justice system and a failure of … [Read more...] about # A SATURDAY SNAPSHOT. # ALL EYES ARE ON THE PM TO BREAK THE MALIMALI SUSPENSION DEADLOCK

Posted on February 28, 2025 20 Comments

The Commission of Inquiry into the appointment of Barbara Malimali as FICAC Commissioner has sought an urgent meeting with the Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka, as its demand for the suspension of Malimali to protect FICAC witnesses from intimidation continues to be ignored. At the time of writing in the early hours of this morning, we don't know … [Read more...] about # ALL EYES ARE ON THE PM TO BREAK THE MALIMALI SUSPENSION DEADLOCK

# HOW MUCH LONGER IS THIS FARCE GOING TO BE ALLOWED TO CONTINUE? (UPDATED THURS PM)

Posted on February 27, 2025 20 Comments

So after having been sent on leave when the Commission of Inquiry into her appointment as FICAC Commissioner instead asked for her suspension, Barbara Malimali is still interfering with the conduct of the Commission and its FICAC witnesses. Bad-ass Barbie is brazenly giving the middle finger to Justice David Ashton-Lewis. And if the Prime … [Read more...] about # HOW MUCH LONGER IS THIS FARCE GOING TO BE ALLOWED TO CONTINUE? # THE WAVE OF FEAR RUNNING THROUGH THE PM’S POLITICAL RIVALS. IN HIS OWN TEAM

Posted on February 26, 2025 22 Comments

The biggest political unknown in Fiji is why the Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka, set up the Ashton-Lewis Commission of Inquiry into the appointment of Barbara Malimali when by its very nature, it was bound to apply the blowtorch to members of his own government. Grubsheet has remarked before that the cardinal rule in politics the world over is … [Read more...] about # THE WAVE OF FEAR RUNNING THROUGH THE PM’S POLITICAL RIVALS. IN HIS OWN TEAM

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
