# PROTECTING THE “VULAGI”. WHO THE HELL IS THE PRIME MINISTER TRYING TO KID?

Posted on September 2, 2025 30 Comments

"Trust me to ensure that the interests of all citizens are protected", says the Snake. Yeah, sure. Just like you protected them in 1987 and most recently when you allowed your supporters to call non-indigenous citizens "vulagi" - visitors in their country. Sitiveni Rabuka doesn't like the Labour Party leader and former prime minister, Mahendra … [Read more...] about # PROTECTING THE “VULAGI”. WHO THE HELL IS THE PRIME MINISTER TRYING TO KID?

# OUCH. AN OBSCURE ARTICLE ON PAGE 49 STRIKES A RAW NERVE WITH THE NEW MINISTER FOR BULLSH*T, BONKING AND WEED

Posted on September 1, 2025 15 Comments

Grubsheet and Fijileaks are irritants that the Coalition largely ignores. But when two bright, young iTaukei who are clearly budding intellectuals pen a devastating portrait of a government wallowing in dysfunction, it's another matter altogether. It is sit-up time. This is a cancer that could easily metastasize and swamp the body politic as a … [Read more...] about # OUCH. # THE FULL SUPREME COURT OPINION ON THE VALIDITY OF THE 2013 CONSTITUTION (UPDATED MONDAY PM WITH MISSING PAGES INSERTED)

Posted on August 31, 2025 17 Comments

As we have with the COI Inquiry and other important milestones, Grubsheet is publishing the full landmark Supreme Court decision that has rejected any return to the 1997 Constitution but has made it easier to amend the 2013 Constitution, which it has established as the legitimate supreme law of Fiji. We are doing so not just for the benefit of … [Read more...] about # THE FULL SUPREME COURT OPINION ON THE VALIDITY OF THE 2013 CONSTITUTION (UPDATED MONDAY PM WITH MISSING PAGES INSERTED)

# WHY THE PRIME MINISTER IS SO “HAPPY” ABOUT THE SUPREME COURT DECISION. HE’S GOT EXACTLY WHAT HE WANTED

Posted on August 30, 2025 43 Comments

Make no mistake. The last thing Sitiveni Rabuka wanted arising out of the Supreme Court review was a return to the 1997 Constitution, even though that was the position of his own party, the People's Alliance. As with Frank Bainimarama before him, he owes his position to the "big man" provisions of the d'Hondt electoral system enshrined in the … [Read more...] about # WHY THE PRIME MINISTER IS SO “HAPPY” ABOUT THE SUPREME COURT DECISION. # BREAKING NEWS…THE 2013 CONSTITUTION CAN BE AMENDED WITH TWO THIRDS MAJORITY VOTE IN THE PARLIAMENT AND A MAJORITY OF VOTERS AT A REFERENDUM

Posted on August 29, 2025 21 Comments

The Supreme Court says the 2013 Constitution is the legal supreme law of Fiji, rejecting the notion that the 1997 Constitution still stands. But it says the current threshold for change of a 75 per cent vote in the parliament and 75 per cent vote of all registered voters should be reduced to two thirds of the parliament and a simple majority of … [Read more...] about # BREAKING NEWS…THE 2013 CONSTITUTION CAN BE AMENDED WITH TWO THIRDS MAJORITY VOTE IN THE PARLIAMENT AND A MAJORITY OF VOTERS AT A REFERENDUM

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
