# BARBIE’S NEW LOOK. HAUNTED. THE GAME IS UP

Posted on December 20, 2024 22 Comments

Barbara Malimali has made the fatal mistake of believing the widespread stories that she is a protected species and will survive the current blowtorch being applied to her - frolicking in the pages of the mainstream media seemingly without a care in the world. But it is clearly starting to dawn on her that the game is up - that you simply cannot … [Read more...] about # BARBIE’S NEW LOOK. HAUNTED. THE GAME IS UP

# THE DANGER OF BEING OVERLY DEFENSIVE ABOUT THOSE PINA COLADAS

Posted on December 17, 2024 9 Comments

In public relations, honesty is always the best policy, just as it is in every other facet of life. So kudos to the Tourism Minister, Viliame Gavoka, for not falling for the trap, in an ABC interview last night, of giving a blanket all clear for every Fijian resort after the poisoned drinks saga at the Warwick Resort. Gavoka and the head of … [Read more...] about # THE DANGER OF BEING OVERLY DEFENSIVE ABOUT THOSE PINA COLADAS

# AUSTRALIA ISSUES TRAVEL ALERT ABOUT CONTAMINATED DRINKS THREAT IN FIJI (UPDATED MON PM)

A call to Grubsheet by a journalist from one of Australia's biggest media outlets about the "poisoned" drinks saga at the Warwick Hotel that has left four Australians critically ill underlines the vulnerability of Fiji's biggest revenue earner. Because one of the first questions is whether this was a one-off event or could visitors to other resorts … [Read more...] about # AUSTRALIA ISSUES TRAVEL ALERT ABOUT CONTAMINATED DRINKS THREAT IN FIJI (UPDATED MON PM)

# WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE?

Posted on December 16, 2024 13 Comments

Well, look at the empty pews in Centenary Methodist Church for a service of thanksgiving to mark the second anniversary of the Coalition government. The Prime Minister does a Semesa Karavaki and appears all in white as some kind of messiah but his followers seem to have better things to do. At the half way point of its term, the government is … [Read more...] about # WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE?

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
