# ANA V BARBARA. AND BOO BOO TO YOU*

Posted on December 15, 2024 12 Comments

The Ana-Barbara showdown reduces the criminal justice system in Fiji to a Hanna Barbera-like cartoon for kids and is highly damaging to public confidence in our institutions of state. Seriously. How much longer can this go on before the Coalition government brings an end to this sorry farce? I had planned not to post this weekend but have … [Read more...] about # ANA V BARBARA. # THE OLD CROOK KEEPS SINGING FOR HIS PARDON

Posted on December 14, 2024 16 Comments

Mahendra "Mac" Patel - the only person in Fijian history to be pardoned for a crime he committed without ever serving his prison sentence - is at it again, repaying the Coalition government that did so with yet another diatribe against the 2013 Constitution as part of its agenda to jettison the current supreme law. The man who first started to … [Read more...] about # THE OLD CROOK KEEPS SINGING FOR HIS PARDON

# SALESI TEMO AND THE JSC NOW IN THE FIRING LINE OVER BARBARA-GATE

Posted on December 13, 2024 26 Comments

For the first time, a senior public figure in the form of the Opposition leader, Inia Seruiratu, has raised questions in public about the failure of the Judicial Services Commission under its head - the rogue Acting Chief Justice, Salesi Temo - to properly manage the offices of state under its jurisdiction. It has been a long time coming but … [Read more...] about # SALESI TEMO AND THE JSC NOW IN THE FIRING LINE OVER BARBARA-GATE

# ON THE WARPATH. THE DPP SAYS THE OUTCOME OF HIS TRIAL IS A FOREGONE CONCLUSION

Posted on December 12, 2024 2 Comments

Fiji's international reputation and its ability to attract foreign investment and workers has taken a huge hit with the Coalition's treatment of the DPP, Christopher Pryde, who gives a "gloves off" interview to Radio New Zealand almost a week after the conclusion of the judicial Tribunal hearing into the allegations of misbehaviour against him that … [Read more...] about # ON THE WARPATH. # BYE-BYE BARBIE. A DEAD WOMAN WALKING

Posted on December 12, 2024 14 Comments

The ongoing upheavals in the criminal justice system simply cannot continue if the Coalition is to have any chance of retaining public confidence in the rule of law, let alone of winning the 2026 election. And that means replacing Barbara Malimali, the one-woman stumbling disaster at FICAC, as well as the "guilty of professional misconduct" … [Read more...] about # BYE-BYE BARBIE. A DEAD WOMAN WALKING

# THE FACE OF A SHOCKING COLLAPSE OF GOVERNANCE

Posted on December 11, 2024 19 Comments

The antics of the FICAC Commissioner, Barbara Malimali, go from bad to worse as she breaks every single convention expected of those in high office and of someone currently under judicial investigation. The record shows that whatever emerges about the "rotten" circumstances of her appointment - the Prime Minister's description, not mine - Barbara … [Read more...] about # THE FACE OF A SHOCKING COLLAPSE OF GOVERNANCE

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
