# THE PRIME MINISTER HASN’T DELAYED THE THIRD READING OF BILL 32 FOR THE NATION. HE HAS DONE IT FOR HIMSELF

Posted on November 3, 2026 Leave a Comment

Make no mistake, Fiji. Sitiveni Rabuka's last-minute decision yesterday not to proceed with the vote on the new constitution in the parliament this week isn't because of the reasons he gave - to provide more time for public consultations and take the pressure off parliamentary officials. It is to work out how the hell he is going to deal with … [Read more...] about # THE PRIME MINISTER HASN’T DELAYED THE THIRD READING OF BILL 32 FOR THE NATION. HE HAS DONE IT FOR HIMSELF

# THE SENSE OF CRISIS IN THE COUNTRY IS DEEPENING AND SOMETHING HAS TO GIVE (UPDATED MID-MORNING AS THE PM BLINKS FIRST)

The week in which the main governing party intends to force its choice of a constitution down our collective throats has begun with an astonishing warning from the Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka, that military intervention may be on the cards. His comments are reckless in the extreme. The fact is that the military has already intervened by … [Read more...] about # THE SENSE OF CRISIS IN THE COUNTRY IS DEEPENING AND SOMETHING HAS TO GIVE (UPDATED MID-MORNING AS THE PM BLINKS FIRST)

# BOMBSHELL. THE RFMF SAYS THE IMMUNITY PROVISIONS IN THE DRAFT CONSTITUTION MUST GO. IS THAT AN “OR ELSE”?

Posted on November 1, 2026 7 Comments

Just as the Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka, and his People's Alliance think they have their new constitution in the bag, the RFMF Commander, Major General Ro Jone Kalouniwai, has thrown a massive spanner in the works by calling for the removal of the immunity provisions. He appears, in the following Fiji Village story, to refer to the whole of … [Read more...] about # BOMBSHELL. THE RFMF SAYS THE IMMUNITY PROVISIONS IN THE DRAFT CONSTITUTION MUST GO. # GET SET FOR A WEEK OF BETRAYAL LED BY THE GREAT BETRAYER AND SNAKE

Posted on October 31, 2026 6 Comments

We're just going to have to suck it up, Fiji. We're getting a new constitution foisted on us by Christmas whether we like it or not, just like the last one was foisted on us. Except that this time, we've got to pretend that we had some say in it when we didn't. The unholy alliance of the Prime Minister, his People's Alliance colleagues and the … [Read more...] about # GET SET FOR A WEEK OF BETRAYAL LED BY THE GREAT BETRAYER AND SNAKE

# SHOCK NEW OPINION POLL: SAVENACA NARUBE LEAPS TO SECOND PREFERRED PRIME MINISTER AFTER SITIVENI RABUKA

# NOT A HAPPY KOALA. BLINKY BILL ON A COLLISION COURSE WITH HIS SODELPA COLLEAGUES OVER THE DRAFT CONSTITUTION

Posted on October 29, 2026 3 Comments

The lead-up to next week's parliamentary vote on the new constitution has become increasingly fraught as "Blinky" Bill Gavoka - the Deputy Prime Minister and SODELPA'S former leader - goes head- to-head in a very public clash with his successor, Aseri Radrodro. Blinky tells the Fiji Times that he is "devastated" by SODELPA's decision to vote … [Read more...] about # NOT A HAPPY KOALA. About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.

(Feejee is the original name for Fiji - a derivative of the indigenous Viti and the Tongan Fisi - and was widely used until the late 19th century)
