Almost a year to the day after he was unceremoniously dumped as attorney-general in favour of the disgraced Graham Leung, Siromi Turaga is back in an acting capacity as the government's chief legal advisor. As a senior lawyer said in a message to Grubsheet this evening: "Is the Prime Minister mad? Answer: Well, yes. But what choice did he have … [Read more...] about # THE NEW OLD AG. # THE LAST GASP OF THE CORRUPT CLIQUE IN THE ODPP

Posted on June 3, 2025 41 Comments

The Assistant DPP, Laisani Tabuakuro, is insolent, intemperate and has no idea how to behave. She simply shouldn't be there. And her presence in the job - if it isn't strictly unlawful - contravenes all accepted practice in the civil service and offices of state and all employment practices. Tabuakoro was removed by the substantive DPP, … [Read more...] about # THE LAST GASP OF THE CORRUPT CLIQUE IN THE ODPP

Now that Barbara Malimali has been fired as FICAC Commissioner, the next logical step is the suspension of the man who appointed her, the man from whom all corruption and dysfunction in the criminal justice system in Fiji flows - the rogue Chief Justice, Salesi Temo. The CJ's suspension is reported to be one of the major recommendations of the … [Read more...] about # NEXT!

# THE PRIME MINISTER HAS BEEN UTTERLY RUTHLESS WITH BARBARA MALIMALI AND GRAHAM LEUNG. BUT DID THE RFMF FORCE HIS HAND? (UPDATED SUNDAY AM)

Posted on May 30, 2025 63 Comments

Sitiveni Rabuka has reinforced his reputation for ruthlessness in his treatment of someone who has always displayed the greatest loyalty towards him - the now sacked Attorney General Graham Leung. Leung was out of the country in Hong Kong when he is said to have received a one-line text message from the Prime Minister that said simply. "You are … [Read more...] about # THE PRIME MINISTER HAS BEEN UTTERLY RUTHLESS WITH BARBARA MALIMALI AND GRAHAM LEUNG. BUT DID THE RFMF FORCE HIS HAND? (UPDATED SUNDAY AM)

# GRAHAM LEUNG DISMISSED AS ATTORNEY GENERAL AS RATU SUKUNA DAY TURNS INTO A BLOODBATH (UPDATED)

Posted on May 30, 2025 36 Comments

Graham Leung is the latest head to roll as the Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka, begins to conduct a purge of the government and institutions of state in the wake of the Ashton-Lewis Commission of Inquiry. It is something of a surprise because none of Grubsheet's sources flagged Leung's departure in advance. So why has he gone after the … [Read more...] about # GRAHAM LEUNG DISMISSED AS ATTORNEY GENERAL AS RATU SUKUNA DAY TURNS INTO A BLOODBATH (UPDATED)

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
