# THE RULE OF THE MOB BEFORE THE RULE OF LAW. HOW THE ITAUKEI ESTABLISHMENT PLANS TO PUSH THROUGH A NEW CONSTITUTION IN SIX MONTHS

Posted on July 29, 2026 12 Comments

Confused about what the Rabuka government's stance is on changing the 2013 Constitution? You're not alone. Because the mixed messaging from the top has never been more confusing, with just six months now to the last possible date that the government can call an election in the first week of February. On the one hand, we have the Prime Minister, … [Read more...] about # THE RULE OF THE MOB BEFORE THE RULE OF LAW. HOW THE ITAUKEI ESTABLISHMENT PLANS TO PUSH THROUGH A NEW CONSTITUTION IN SIX MONTHS

# MORE SCARE TACTICS AS THE FIJI TIMES AGAIN GIVES RO TEIMUMU KEPA ITS FRONT PAGE TO CLAIM A THREAT TO ITAUKEI RIGHTS

Posted on July 27, 2026 12 Comments

On Friday, it was Ro Teimumu Kepa - the Roko Tui Dreketi and former opposition leader - claiming that the iTaukei are "still haunted by the damage" caused to them by 16 years of Bainimarama rule. Today it's Ro Teimumu Kepa claiming that laws introduced by the Bainimarama government "continue to undermine iTaukei rights". Both are front page … [Read more...] about # MORE SCARE TACTICS AS THE FIJI TIMES AGAIN GIVES RO TEIMUMU KEPA ITS FRONT PAGE TO CLAIM A THREAT TO ITAUKEI RIGHTS

# WAITING, WAITING, WAITING. THE ANSWERS THAT NEVER COME DESPITE THE PUBLIC’S RIGHT TO KNOW (UPDATED TUES JUL 28)

Posted on July 26, 2026 6 Comments

Grubsheet is reminded yet again how crazy Fiji has become in the four years of Coalition government by the Prime Minister's absurd statement that the Ashton-Lewis Commission of Inquiry was worth it because at least people targeted now know they did nothing wrong. It really is like being down the rabbit hole with Alice (in Lewis Carroll's … [Read more...] about # WAITING, WAITING, WAITING. # WHEN THE BEST FIJIAN MAINSTREAM MEDIA OUTLET IS IN NEW ZEALAND

Posted on July 25, 2026 9 Comments

The worst indictment of the Fijian media is the fact that the most comprehensive coverage of major individual stories is to be found not on local media outlets but on Radio New Zealand's Pacific Service. RNZ routinely covers stories that some Fijian media organisations ignore altogether, deep diving into detail that seems beyond the capacity of … [Read more...] about # WHEN THE BEST FIJIAN MAINSTREAM MEDIA OUTLET IS IN NEW ZEALAND

# HOMER IS A VERY LUCKY BOY. HE IS GOING TO BE EVEN MORE INSUFFERABLE FROM NOW ON

Posted on July 24, 2026 3 Comments

Seriously though, Grubsheet is pleased for him that Charlie Charters has won his court case today because I wouldn't wish a stint in Naboro or Korovou on anyone, let alone someone so obviously unfit for prison life. The judicial finding of a probable abuse of process on the part of FICAC has wider implications beyond just Charlie. It … [Read more...] about # HOMER IS A VERY LUCKY BOY. # WELL SHE WOULD SAY THAT, WOULDN’T SHE? ANOTHER PERVERSION OF JOURNALISM AND THE TRUTH

Posted on July 24, 2026 9 Comments

Hold the front page. The Roko Tui Dreketi and head of the Burebasaga confederacy, Ro Teimumu Kepa, says the 16-year rule by Frank Bainimarama and Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum was bad for the iTaukei. Oh really? This from the former SODELPA opposition leader and Rewa High Chief who has been saying the same thing for 20 years. So what's new that would … [Read more...] about # WELL SHE WOULD SAY THAT, WOULDN’T SHE? ANOTHER PERVERSION OF JOURNALISM AND THE TRUTH

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
