# JUST LET HIM GO

Posted on June 18, 2024 44 Comments

There was an ugly element to yesterday's attempt by Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum to get permission to travel to Singapore for medical treatment - the conduct of the state prosecutor, Nancy Tikoisuva, one of the also-rans who have been elevated in the ODPP by the illegally appointed Acting DPP, John Rabuku. It is perfectly acceptable in any case for the … [Read more...] about # JUST LET HIM GO

# DON’T WORRY. THE AUSSIES WILL FIX IT

Posted on June 18, 2024 19 Comments

Everything that is wrong with modern-day Fiji is encapsulated in one story in today's Fiji Times - the nonchalance of our authorities about running a brand new naval patrol boat onto a reef in Lau because someone else is going to pay for it. Never mind the chronic blame game in national life in which it is always someone's else's fault. The … [Read more...] about # DON’T WORRY. THE AUSSIES WILL FIX IT

# CREDIBILITY AS PAUCE AS HIS PATE

Posted on June 16, 2024 27 Comments

It has taken more than three weeks for the NFP stalwart, Richard “I have the means” Naidu – wearing his hat as Chair of the government’s Fiscal Review Committee – to enter the contentious public debate about the justification of MPs awarding themselves massive salary and benefits increases. And to his credit, he does so by calling for the increases … [Read more...] about # CREDIBILITY AS PAUCE AS HIS PATE

# A PROUD MILITARY TRADITION SUNK

Posted on June 16, 2024 49 Comments

No Fijian with a pulse watching last night’s Trooping the Colour spectacle in London to celebrate the birthday of King Charles can fail to have been proud to see so many of our fellow citizens on parade – just some of the 1500 Fijians serving in the British armed forces. They included the impressive sight of a Fijian on horseback – Corporal … [Read more...] about # A PROUD MILITARY TRADITION SUNK

# IS THAT ALL THERE IS?

Fourteen months after he was suspended on full pay, the Fijian people are finally being told the precise details of the accusations of "misbehaviour" against the Director of Public Prosecutions, Christopher Pryde. However there is still no date set for the judicial tribunal hearing into the allegations against him which, if proven, could see him … [Read more...] about # IS THAT ALL THERE IS?

# THE MINISTER FOR BONKING AND WEED PLAYS THE GENDER CARD

Posted on June 14, 2024 22 Comments

As often happens, the Fiji Times has played catch-up with the Fiji Sun today in reporting Lynda Tabuya’s first formal public comment on her drug-fuelled sexcapade 10 months ago with fellow minister Aseri Radrodro in Room 233 of the Windsor Hotel in Melbourne. In the Fiji Times version of the story, … [Read more...] about # THE MINISTER FOR BONKING AND WEED PLAYS THE GENDER CARD

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
