# ZHAO FUGANG’S CHINESE BURN

Posted on May 11, 2024 19 Comments

The Yue Lai yum cha czar, Zhao Fugang, has been on a local PR blitz to rubbish the Nine Media's reporting that he is a priority target of Australia's intelligence services for allegedly running the region's biggest drug trafficking syndicate. But he has fallen at the first hurdle with his claim that Nick Mckenzie - the 60 Minutes and Nine newspaper … [Read more...] about # ZHAO FUGANG’S CHINESE BURN

# IT ISN’T OVER FOR FRANK

Posted on May 10, 2024 56 Comments

Like many Fijians, Grubsheet has been in a mild state of shock at the sight of Frank Bainimarama trying to use what looked like a tea towel to cover up his handcuffs as he and Sitiveni Qiliho left the High Court yesterday for the journey to prison. It wasn’t as if we didn’t expect the pair to be jailed. Grubsheet had been predicting it in these … [Read more...] about # IT ISN’T OVER FOR FRANK

# THURSDAY MAY 9. A MOMENTOUS DAY IN FIJI

Posted on May 8, 2024 15 Comments

Security has been tightened in central Suva as Frank Bainimarama and Sitiveni Qiliho are re-sentenced by the Acting Chief Justice, Salesi Temo, and he imposes much harsher penalties than the effective acquittals pronounced on them by Magistrate Seini Puamau. The hearing was due to begin at 11.00am and local media reports that police are checking … [Read more...] about # THURSDAY MAY 9. A MOMENTOUS DAY IN FIJI

# THE WOMEN’S MOVEMENT ENABLES THE MINISTER WHO SLEPT WITH A DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ABUSER

Posted on May 8, 2024 27 Comments

There is suddenly a lot of hand-wringing about moral decay in Fiji, including on the front page of today's Fiji Times where the new Chair of the Great Council of Chiefs preposterously blames the 2000 and 2006 coups. Nonsense. The moral decay in Fiji lies at the feet of our leaders who preach one thing and do another and the appalling example they … [Read more...] about # THE WOMEN’S MOVEMENT ENABLES THE MINISTER WHO SLEPT WITH A DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ABUSER

# ZHAO FUGANG MUSTERS HIS LOCAL USEFUL IDIOTS

Imagine what it must be like to be a Fijian employee of the self-confessed Chinese Communist Party agent and alleged drug trafficker Zhao Fugang. He comes to you and asks you to appear with him in a photograph to use in his attempt to counter the explosive allegations against him detailed by Nine newspapers and 60 Minutes. What do you do? "O, … [Read more...] about # ZHAO FUGANG MUSTERS HIS LOCAL USEFUL IDIOTS

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
