# IT’S THE ECONOMY, STUPID*. THE COST OF LIVING CRISIS WILL DETERMINE THE ELECTION RESULT (ASSUMING IT HAPPENS)

Posted on May 7, 2026 16 Comments

The extent of the challenge facing the Coalition parties as they seek a second term in government is laid bare in a landmark report by the nation's foremost policy institute - Dialogue Fiji - that reveals cost-of-living pressures are the top priority of most Fijians. Not crime and drugs. Not iTaukei rights. Not changing the Constitution or the … [Read more...] about # IT’S THE ECONOMY, STUPID*. # COULD THESE TWO IMAGES PERCHANCE BE RELATED? ALL EYES ARE ON FIJILEAKS AS WE WAIT TO BE TOLD

In other news, the perennial grin has been wiped off Manoa Kamikamica's face and his political career is in tatters as his perjury trial gets the green light and other charges are pending. It is also a disaster for the likes of Biman Prasad, Barbara Malimali/Tanya Waqanika and Charlie Charters as a High Court judge rules that contrary … [Read more...] about # COULD THESE TWO IMAGES PERCHANCE BE RELATED? # YES, NO NEED FOR A STATE OF EMERGENCY. THE MILITARY IS ALREADY IN CONTROL AND THE MEDIA IS UNDER CONTROL

Posted on May 5, 2026 5 Comments

Without in any way diminishing the importance of tackling the drug threat, there are some deeply disturbing aspects to the current crackdown on criminals way beyond the extrajudicial killing by the RFMF of the accused drug kingpin, Jone Vakarisi. As the police "investigate" (yeah, sure) the circumstances in which Vakarisi was tortured and beaten … [Read more...] about # YES, NO NEED FOR A STATE OF EMERGENCY. # TAKING THE PISS. WHOSE URINE SAMPLE WAS IT? YES, REALLY

Posted on May 2, 2026 10 Comments

Lynda Tabuya has lied about her drug use before but her own party found her guilty two years ago of a "sex and Illicit drug scandal" and stripped her of the deputy leadership of the People's Alliance. So we are entitled to be extremely skeptical about her latest stunt - supposedly submitting herself to a drugs test in line with new procedures in … [Read more...] about # TAKING THE PISS. # WHY WAS RFMF MURDER VICTIM JONE VAKARISI CRYING OUT LYNDA TABUYA’S NAME AS HE WAS TORTURED? (AND OTHER UNRESOLVED QUESTIONS)

Posted on April 25, 2026 17 Comments

Reports are emerging that during the prolonged beating of Jone Vakarisi at the Queen Elizabeth Barracks that led to his murder, one name was continually being cried out as he begged for mercy. Lynda Tabuya. Why? Was Vakarisi pleading with his torturers to contact the Minister for Information, Environment and Climate Change in the hope that … [Read more...] about # WHY WAS RFMF MURDER VICTIM JONE VAKARISI CRYING OUT LYNDA TABUYA’S NAME AS HE WAS TORTURED? # MAULED BY HOMER SIMPSON IN A MUMU AS THE THREE AMIGOS GO QUIET ON TORTURE AND MURDER AT THE CAMP (UPDATED)

Posted on April 23, 2026 14 Comments

Woo hoo!, as the famous cartoon character, Homer Simpson, is fond of saying. It's a red letter day when the "citizen journalist" and fashion plate, Charlie Charters, gives Grubsheet a plug on his Facebook page. And that day has come as Charlie praises the excellent article we featured yesterday by our mutual friend, Richard Thomson, on the proposed … [Read more...] about # MAULED BY HOMER SIMPSON IN A MUMU AS THE THREE AMIGOS GO QUIET ON TORTURE AND MURDER AT THE CAMP (UPDATED)

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
