At a time when the nation is wallowing in crisis - wracked by chaotic and dysfunctional governance, a drug threat that threatens the integrity of the state and a widespread breakdown in basic standards of conduct and morality - we have chosen someone we described last August as "Fiji's forgotten woman" as worthy of being Fijian of the Year for 2025 … [Read more...] about # GRUBSHEET RETURNS TO ANNOUNCE OUR CHOICE FOR 2025’s FIJIAN OF THE YEAR

# HAPPY NEW YEAR, DEAR READERS! ON HOLIDAYS WITH MY ESTEEMED MARAMA. BACK SOON (UPDATED JAN 5 )

Posted on January 2, 2026 23 Comments

UPDATE JANUARY 5: Someone has interrupted my holiday with news that the lamentable Yorkshireman, Charlie Charters, has launched yet another attack on me on Facebook, which he knows I cannot respond to because I am banned from the social media platform where I once had 30,000 "followers" on a formal complaint by the Coalition skank, Lynda Tabuya. … [Read more...] about # HAPPY NEW YEAR, DEAR READERS! For the second year in a row, Christmas Eve in Fiji and the days immediately before it have gone way beyond the usual preparations for feasting and worship to provide us all with some startling distractions. # COMMONMAN WAGES AN EXTRAORDINARY CAMPAIGN ON BEHALF OF ORDINARY ITAUKEI FOR REFORM OF THE CHIEFLY SYSTEM IN FIJI

Posted on December 21, 2025 18 Comments

GD writes: I gave CommonMan - our grassroots columnist in the vanua - anonymity for a very good reason - so that without fear of retribution, he could speak plainly on behalf of common people about the power structures that govern iTaukei life. Whether they are working, whether they are benefiting the majority and not just the elite and how they … [Read more...] about # COMMONMAN WAGES AN EXTRAORDINARY CAMPAIGN ON BEHALF OF ORDINARY ITAUKEI FOR REFORM OF THE CHIEFLY SYSTEM IN FIJI

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
