# THE CHIEFS DON’T WANT THE 2013 CONSTITUTION REVIEWED. THEY WANT IT ABOLISHED. AND THAT IS A THREAT TO THE MINORITIES AND ENLIGHTENED ITAUKEI

Posted on March 15, 2026 42 Comments

With the swearing in of a Constitutional Review Commission on Friday, the Fijian people are being hoodwinked into thinking that mere changes are being contemplated to the document that the Supreme Court has ruled remains the supreme law in Fiji. Not so. The secret agenda of nationalist elements of the Coalition government - backed by the Great … [Read more...] about # THE CHIEFS DON’T WANT THE 2013 CONSTITUTION REVIEWED. Many older Fijians will remember my late father, the Reverend Peter Davis, who led the Methodist Church in Fiji as its president at a time when more than 80 per cent of iTaukei were Methodists and before Christians splintered into a multitude of smaller churches and religious groups. It made him a national figure in the years leading up to … [Read more...] about # IN MEMORY OF MY FATHER, PK DAVIS. A KAIVALAGI FIJIAN AT HEART BORN 100 YEARS AGO TODAY

# WAR IN THE MIDDLE EAST IS SET TO WORSEN FIJI’S ALREADY PARLOUS ECONOMIC OUTLOOK

Posted on March 13, 2026 35 Comments

To all intents and purposes, Fiji is already a beggar nation dependent on foreign aid and remittances from the diaspora, which are now the country's second biggest revenue earner after tourism. We have a shrinking population and a shrinking tax base. Yet having already lived beyond our means for years, the current government engaged in a orgy of … [Read more...] about # WAR IN THE MIDDLE EAST IS SET TO WORSEN FIJI’S ALREADY PARLOUS ECONOMIC OUTLOOK

# NOW FIJI’S BUSINESS COMMUNITY WANTS THE TAXPAYER TO BAIL THEM OUT OF DONALD TRUMP’S WAR AGAINST IRAN

Posted on March 11, 2026 9 Comments

The begging bowl in the Beggar Nation is out again - this time the fat cats of the business community demanding that the government come up with a "financial support package" to get them through the fallout from the Middle East War. Is there no-one in modern-day Fiji willing or able to stand on their own two feet? Is there anyone who doesn't … [Read more...] about # NOW FIJI’S BUSINESS COMMUNITY WANTS THE TAXPAYER TO BAIL THEM OUT OF DONALD TRUMP’S WAR AGAINST IRAN

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
