As we have with the COI Inquiry and other important milestones, Grubsheet is publishing the full landmark Supreme Court decision that has rejected any return to the 1997 Constitution but has made it easier to amend the 2013 Constitution, which it has established as the legitimate supreme law of Fiji. We are doing so not just for the benefit of … [Read more...] about # THE FULL SUPREME COURT OPINION ON THE VALIDITY OF THE 2013 CONSTITUTION (UPDATED MONDAY PM WITH MISSING PAGES INSERTED)

# WHY THE PRIME MINISTER IS SO “HAPPY” ABOUT THE SUPREME COURT DECISION. HE’S GOT EXACTLY WHAT HE WANTED

Posted on August 30, 2025 43 Comments

Make no mistake. The last thing Sitiveni Rabuka wanted arising out of the Supreme Court review was a return to the 1997 Constitution, even though that was the position of his own party, the People's Alliance. As with Frank Bainimarama before him, he owes his position to the "big man" provisions of the d'Hondt electoral system enshrined in the … [Read more...] about # WHY THE PRIME MINISTER IS SO “HAPPY” ABOUT THE SUPREME COURT DECISION. # BREAKING NEWS…THE 2013 CONSTITUTION CAN BE AMENDED WITH TWO THIRDS MAJORITY VOTE IN THE PARLIAMENT AND A MAJORITY OF VOTERS AT A REFERENDUM

Posted on August 29, 2025 21 Comments

The Supreme Court says the 2013 Constitution is the legal supreme law of Fiji, rejecting the notion that the 1997 Constitution still stands. But it says the current threshold for change of a 75 per cent vote in the parliament and 75 per cent vote of all registered voters should be reduced to two thirds of the parliament and a simple majority of … [Read more...] about # BREAKING NEWS…THE 2013 CONSTITUTION CAN BE AMENDED WITH TWO THIRDS MAJORITY VOTE IN THE PARLIAMENT AND A MAJORITY OF VOTERS AT A REFERENDUM

# THE GRAND CONSPIRACY TO DENY JUSTICE TO FIJI’S FORGOTTEN WOMAN, FRANCIS PULEIWAI

Posted on August 29, 2025 1 Comment

The Prime Minister talks about the "natural justice system" that gives the Chief Justice, Salesi Temo, the right to stay in office and be free of a police or FICAC investigation into the COI allegations against him of perjury, obstructing and perverting the course of justice and abuse of office. Yet Sitiveni Rabuka displays no shame whatsoever … [Read more...] about # THE GRAND CONSPIRACY TO DENY JUSTICE TO FIJI’S FORGOTTEN WOMAN, FRANCIS PULEIWAI

# D-DAY ON THE CONSTITUTION. WE MUST FIGHT ANY NOTION THAT SOME FIJIANS ARE MORE EQUAL THAN OTHERS

Posted on August 29, 2025 18 Comments

We will know this afternoon at 2.30 pm whether the Supreme Court is going to give the green light to changes to the 2013 Constitution and at least one third of the nation is very much on edge. Why? Because we know that the majority party in the Coalition, Sitiveni Rabuka's People's Alliance, is looking to the Court to open up the prospect of … [Read more...] about # D-DAY ON THE CONSTITUTION. About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
