# SALESI TEMO’S BLACK FRIDAY

Posted on February 14, 2025 15 Comments

The Chief Justice, Salesi Temo, is already having a bad day - waking to find himself splashed all over today's Fiji Sun accused of presiding over dysfunction and incompetence as head of the Judicial Services Commission. The JSC is slammed by the Opposition's Jone Usamate and the Labour Party leader and former prime minister, Mahendra Chaudhry, … [Read more...] about # SALESI TEMO’S BLACK FRIDAY

# WELCOME TO FIJI. WHERE A JUDICIAL RULING AND PRESIDENTIAL DIRECTIVE ARE WORTHLESS (UPDATED)

Posted on February 13, 2025 29 Comments

The party resumes at the ODPP, where a month after being exonerated and reinstated, Christopher Pryde is again sidelined and Nancy Tikoisuva is back in charge of the bottles. So, Fiji. We have more trumped up charges against the DPP on top of the refusal to suspend Barbara Malimali as FICAC Commissioner for being in obvious contempt of the … [Read more...] about # WELCOME TO FIJI. # WHEN THE ONLY THING BEING CRUCIFIED IS THE TRUTH

Posted on February 12, 2025 25 Comments

It is easily one of the most bizarre spectacles in Fijian political history - the Co-Chair of the Coalition government's Task Force on Pornography, Lynda Tabuya, making a pornographic video herself and then claiming to be "crucified" when it goes public because either the person who took it leaked it or someone close to her did. But certainly not … [Read more...] about # WHEN THE ONLY THING BEING CRUCIFIED IS THE TRUTH

# THANK GOD SHE FINALLY SEEMS TO BE GETTING HELP

Posted on February 11, 2025 9 Comments

The sight of Lynda Tabuya in earnest conversation with Fiji's only (or is it first?) psychotherapist, Selina Kuruleca, is giving the nation hope that maybe she is starting to realise she needs help. Or is it that Selina - the new Permanent Secretary for Justice - has heard the same rumours we have that the Prime Minister has earmarked the Queen … [Read more...] about # THANK GOD SHE FINALLY SEEMS TO BE GETTING HELP

# WHAT’S THE LAST THING JESUS SAID TO THE ITAUKEI? DON’T DO ANYTHING TILL I GET BACK*

Posted on February 11, 2025 17 Comments

The iTaukei lazy? No. Come on. Stop it. Surely not? How could you possibly say that? You just can't do that in Fiji. Er, but it's not some disaffected "vulagi" saying so this time. It's an iTaukei and someone at the pinnacle of the government and the establishment. None other than Ioane Naivalurua, the new Minister for Policing, former senior … [Read more...] about # WHAT’S THE LAST THING JESUS SAID TO THE ITAUKEI? DON’T DO ANYTHING TILL I GET BACK*

# IS THE FIJI TIMES DELIBERATELY TRYING TO DAMAGE LYNDA TABUYA?

Posted on February 10, 2025 32 Comments

The first rule of crisis management is to staunch the bleed. Which when it comes to politics, means starving a negative story of oxygen. To shut it down so that it is out of the headlines and you can begin the task of saving the rest of the furniture and moving on. It is why the management of the People's Alliance is reported to have told Lynda … [Read more...] about # IS THE FIJI TIMES DELIBERATELY TRYING TO DAMAGE LYNDA TABUYA?

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
