# QUESTIONS FOR THE ATTORNEY GENERAL (UPDATED)

Posted on September 5, 2024 13 Comments

The Coalition government is maintaining the pretence that it has nothing to do with appointments made by the Judicial Services Commission * amid a national furore over the appointment of Barbara Malimali as FICAC Commissioner when she is under active investigation by the corruption watchdog. It is a complete nonsense and a smoke screen behind … [Read more...] about # QUESTIONS FOR THE ATTORNEY GENERAL (UPDATED)

# THE COALITION’S CORRUPTION JUST GOES FROM BAD TO WORSE

Posted on September 4, 2024 21 Comments

So Barbara Malimali has been appointed Commissioner of the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption when she is actively under investigation by FICAC for alleged abuse of office. O vinaka Prime Minister and Coalition government. Is this really the change we voted for? You mangy, mongrel dogs are much worse than the people you replaced … [Read more...] about # THE COALITION’S CORRUPTION JUST GOES FROM BAD TO WORSE

# YOUR FRONT ROW SEAT AS FRANK AND AIYAZ FIGHT BACK

Posted on September 4, 2024 46 Comments

As he indicated publicly last month, the prominent lawyer, Devanesh Sharma, has commenced proceedings on behalf of Frank Bainimarama and Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum challenging the prosecutions against them as unlawful on the basis that the Acting DPP, John Rabuku, was illegally appointed last October and his successor, Nancy Tikoisuva, is also not … [Read more...] about # YOUR FRONT ROW SEAT AS FRANK AND AIYAZ FIGHT BACK

# TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION? LET’S JUST BLAME THE BRITISH

Posted on September 3, 2024 16 Comments

Regular readers of Grubsheet may have realised by now because of my silence on the issue that I have little or no time for a national truth and reconciliation commission as a panacea for the nation's ills. For a start, Fiji is too much of a nation of liars and practitioners of liumuri and masi polo for the concept to work. Yes, we are used to … [Read more...] about # TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION? # ONLY IN FIJI, EH? A NATION THAT CAN’T EVEN ORGANISE A BEAUTY PAGEANT

Posted on September 3, 2024 26 Comments

We've all heard the old sayings. Couldn't organise a piss-up in a brewery. Couldn't organise a f**k in a brothel. Couldn't organise a bunfight in a bakery. Couldn't run a bath. But a new standard of breathtaking incompetence has been set in Fiji with the failure of the local Miss Universe people to properly organise a beauty pageant. Where else … [Read more...] about # ONLY IN FIJI, EH? A NATION THAT CAN’T EVEN ORGANISE A BEAUTY PAGEANT

# THE PACIFIC’S BETRAYAL OF DEMOCRACY AND WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

Posted on September 2, 2024 22 Comments

The decision by the 18 members of the Pacific Islands Forum to give in to the bully boy tantrum by the Chinese dictatorship to remove all reference to Taiwan in the final communique of its Nuku'olofa summit is a new low for the region. Not least because we cannot credibly oppose the imposition of dictatorships in countries such as Fiji yet side … [Read more...] about # THE PACIFIC’S BETRAYAL OF DEMOCRACY AND WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
