# THE FIJI SUN MANIPULATES A STORY OF NATIONAL IMPORTANCE. WHY?

Posted on July 13, 2024 17 Comments

There are 143 pages in today's Fiji Sun but on none of them does the paper report the Prime Minister saying that the Judicial Services Commission was wrong to unlawfully cut off the salary of the suspended DPP, Christopher Pryde, after he formally complained about the prejudicial effect this would have on defending himself in the case … [Read more...] about # THE FIJI SUN MANIPULATES A STORY OF NATIONAL IMPORTANCE. # “THE DPP SHOUD CONTINUE TO BE PAID”. THE PM BOWS TO THE INEVITABLE

Posted on July 12, 2024 22 Comments

The Chair of the Judicial Services Commission, the Acting Chief Justice, Salesi Temo, has been humiliated in spectacular fashion by public comments by the Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka, that the JSC was wrong to cut off the salary of the suspended DPP, Christopher Pryde, before a Tribunal hearing is held into the allegations of misbehaviour … [Read more...] about # “THE DPP SHOUD CONTINUE TO BE PAID”. # RACE AGAIN DETERMINES THE APPOINTMENT OF A NEW ACTING DPP (UPDATED)

Posted on July 12, 2024 34 Comments

The choice of Nancy Tikoisuva to replace the disgraced John Rabuku as Acting DPP has once again been made on the basis of ethnicity, with the best candidate in the ODPP - long-time Assistant DPP Lee Burney - being passed over because he is white. It doesn't take a genius to come to the conclusion that once again, the Judicial Services Commission … [Read more...] about # RACE AGAIN DETERMINES THE APPOINTMENT OF A NEW ACTING DPP (UPDATED)

# THE DPP APPEALS TO NZ FOR HELP AFTER HIS SALARY IS UNLAWFULLY CUT OFF

Posted on July 11, 2024 40 Comments

It has been 15 months since Christopher Pryde famously left Gunu House after being suspended for alleged misbehaviour carrying the “Keep Calm and Carry On” sign that had been on his office wall. Since then he has kept calm and said nothing as the Judicial Services Commission - led by Acting Chief Justice Salesi Temo - has defied the Constitution … [Read more...] about # THE DPP APPEALS TO NZ FOR HELP AFTER HIS SALARY IS UNLAWFULLY CUT OFF

# WHAT IS GOING ON AT THE JUDICIAL SERVICES COMMISSION?

Posted on July 11, 2024 10 Comments

It took 12 days for the Head of the Judicial Services Commission - the Acting Chief Justice, Salesi Temo - to finally advise the President to remove the illegal Acting DPP, John Rabuku, after three Supreme Court judges stated the bleeding obvious - that Rabuku's appointment last October was unconstitutional because he had been found guilty and … [Read more...] about # WHAT IS GOING ON AT THE JUDICIAL SERVICES COMMISSION?

# NEGLIGENCE GROUNDS THE NAVY’S FLAGSHIP

Posted on July 10, 2024 23 Comments

Full marks to the RFMF, its Commander, Major General Ro Jone Kalouniwai, and the head of the Navy, Commodore Humphrey Tawake, for their speedy inquiry into the cause of the grounding of RFNS Puamau in Lau last month. They have done what the Coalition government invariably fails to do - face up to their responsibility for a failure and report … [Read more...] about # NEGLIGENCE GROUNDS THE NAVY’S FLAGSHIP

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
