Alefina Vuki – the Chair of the People’s Alliance disciplinary committee that found the sex and drug allegations against Lynda Tabuya proven – has resigned from the committee and from the Party after the Prime Minister retained Tabuya as the Minister for Women and Children. Alefina Vuki’s decision to sever links with the PAP altogether is a … [Read more...] about EXCLUSIVE. PAP DISCIPLINARY COMMITTEE CHAIR RESIGNS

# HOW TO FIX THE DRUG PROBLEM? DON’T EAT

Posted on April 9, 2024 29 Comments

The call by the Methodist Church in Fiji for a month of prayer and fasting to address the current explosion in drug use tells us a great deal about the intellectual as well as the moral vacuum at the top of national life. The President of the Methodist Church, the Reverend Dr Semisi Turagavou, undoubtedly means well and there is clearly nothing … [Read more...] about # HOW TO FIX THE DRUG PROBLEM? DON’T EAT

# THE COALITION GOES FROM BAD TO WORSE

Posted on April 8, 2024 34 Comments

So now the Acting Supervisor of Elections, Ana Mataiciwa, is set to lose her job for doing her job. And at the hands of the miserable Barbara Malimali - who complained after the election that women weren't getting enough Coalition jobs until she got one and is now using it to remove another woman from her job. Yes, folks, next they'll be eating … [Read more...] about # THE COALITION GOES FROM BAD TO WORSE

# AN ACT OF CONTEMPT FOR FIJIAN SOVEREIGNTY (UPDATED)

Posted on April 7, 2024 3 Comments

Grubsheet has returned from holiday and is catching up on events while we were away. And one of the stories that struck us most was the Chinese Ambassador's gross lack of respect for the Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka, when they shared a platform together and the Ambassador used the occasion to address the recent Australian media reports citing … [Read more...] about # AN ACT OF CONTEMPT FOR FIJIAN SOVEREIGNTY (UPDATED)

# WHEN ALL ELSE FAILS, GET WET

Posted on April 6, 2024 20 Comments

Few things demonstrate the growing impotence and senility of the Prime Minister more starkly than his attempt to make political capital out of dispensing with his umbrella in the rain when the rest of the country is desperate to stay dry or get water out of the taps. Sitiveni Rabuka thinks we are all going to cobo and cry "vinaka" at the sight … [Read more...] about # WHEN ALL ELSE FAILS, GET WET

# HE DOESN’T GET TO CLOSE ANYTHING

Posted on March 30, 2024 23 Comments

Sitiveni Rabuka lives in a parallel universe in which he thinks he can conduct himself in a manner contrary to political and community norms and get away with it without having to face the judgment of the people. The Prime Minister has defied his own party by retaining Lynda Tabuya as Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection when a … [Read more...] about # HE DOESN’T GET TO CLOSE ANYTHING

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
