# GRUBSHEET IS DOWN BUT NOT OUT. HAPPY EASTER AND SOTA TALE

Posted on April 3, 2026 27 Comments

There is no good time to suspend a news blogsite and least of all this one in the lead-up to an election in Fiji. But GD is about to have major surgery - the replacement of my entire left shoulder - and I will be unable to use a keyboard, on doctor's orders, for the foreseeable future. I don't know how long I will be out of action but it may be … [Read more...] about # GRUBSHEET IS DOWN BUT NOT OUT. HAPPY EASTER AND SOTA TALE

# THE SUDDEN PAIN AT THE PUMPS IN FIJI IS JUST THE START. THE NATION IS ABOUT TO PAY DEARLY FOR THE COALITION’S ORGY OF SPENDING

The Fijian people are in for an unprecedented period of hardship after Donald Trump has told the world to "go and get its own oil" - indicating that he is going to walk away from the war he is losing in the Middle East. There has been shock in Fiji at the sudden extent of fuel price increases announced yesterday but only because a complacent … [Read more...] about # THE SUDDEN PAIN AT THE PUMPS IN FIJI IS JUST THE START. Fiji and Australia are elevating their current "Vuvale Partnership" to a "Vuvale Union" as the two nations join forces across a broad front in a major strategic alignment that will have far-reaching consequences for the bilateral relationship and the region as a whole. Eager not to alienate China as it steps up its engagement with the Pacific. … [Read more...] about # FIJI SIDES WITH AUSTRALIA IN A HISTORIC UNION THAT WILL “DIRECT RELATIONS FOR CENTURIES”

# CHARLIE CHARTERS CHANNELS CHURCHILL IN A “V FOR VICTORY” SIGN AS HE COCKS HIS LEG IN THE COURTS

The personality cult that Charlie Charters is crafting around himself as he casts himself as a FICAC victim has taken a fresh twist with his revelation to a breathless nation that he has the bladder of a Labrador. Charlie praises the FICAC investigator who detained him in Nadi and brought him to Suva last month for his kindness in providing him … [Read more...] about # CHARLIE CHARTERS CHANNELS CHURCHILL IN A “V FOR VICTORY” SIGN AS HE COCKS HIS LEG IN THE COURTS

# THE CONDUCT OF THE CHIEF JUSTICE HAS BECOME MORE AND MORE OUTRAGEOUS. HE MUST BE SUSPENDED IMMEDIATELY

Posted on March 30, 2026 16 Comments

Once again, Salesi Temo has deferred his verdict in the trial of Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum and Mohammed Saneem five months after the hearing ended. He now says he will deliver the verdict on May 14 because he "needs more time" - the second occasion he has given the same excuse, having said precisely the same thing on February 2nd. This has become a … [Read more...] about # THE CONDUCT OF THE CHIEF JUSTICE HAS BECOME MORE AND MORE OUTRAGEOUS. HE MUST BE SUSPENDED IMMEDIATELY

# THE COALITION REWRITES HISTORY TO JUSTIFY CHANGING THE CONSTITUTION BEFORE THE COMING ELECTION

Posted on March 30, 2026 2 Comments

So finally the deceitful, corrupt, scandal-ridden Coalition government - through its lame-duck Acting Attorney General, Siromi Turaga - comes clean about its timetable to change the 2013 Constitution. It will happen before the coming election which is due, at the very latest, on February 6, 2027. Which means either of two things: 1/ The changes … [Read more...] about # THE COALITION REWRITES HISTORY TO JUSTIFY CHANGING THE CONSTITUTION BEFORE THE COMING ELECTION

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
