# WHO IS THE MYSTERY PERSON TRYING TO SECURE DONATIONS WITHOUT RECEIPTS WHO ALSO SAYS SITIVENI RABUKA IS TOO OLD TO BE PM?

Posted on April 8, 2025 29 Comments

We will soon know now that Shailendra Raju has made good on his Facebook undertaking to hand an explosive recording he says is in his possession to the Supervisor of Elections, Ana Mataiciwa.* The disillusioned former People's Alliance stalwart and social media warrior has caused a minor sensation with the following posting that threatens to … [Read more...] about # WHO IS THE MYSTERY PERSON TRYING TO SECURE DONATIONS WITHOUT RECEIPTS WHO ALSO SAYS SITIVENI RABUKA IS TOO OLD TO BE PM?

# CFL’S IDEA OF PUBLIC SERVICE. “THE TRIBUTE TO OUR OWN RADIO STAR WAS THE BIGGEST SINCE MICHAEL JACKSON’S” (UPDATED WED AM)

Posted on April 8, 2025 16 Comments

Everything that is wrong with the Fijian media and the way it allows itself to be used as a PR tool for powerful vested interests is encapsulated in today's Fiji Sun story on the Coalition gifting $1.7-million of taxpayer funds to Communications Fiji Limited under the guise of "public service" broadcasting. The Sun's Managing Editor, Frederica … [Read more...] about # CFL’S IDEA OF PUBLIC SERVICE. “THE TRIBUTE TO OUR OWN RADIO STAR WAS THE BIGGEST SINCE MICHAEL JACKSON’S” (UPDATED WED AM)

# DIALOGUE FIJI’S NILESH LAL BUSTS THE ELECTORAL SYSTEM MYTH BEING PEDDLED BY RICHARD NAIDU

Posted on April 6, 2025 10 Comments

There is a lot of nonsense being spread about the failings of Fiji's electoral system, just as there is a lot of nonsense being spread about the failings of the 2013 Constitution. And by people who should know better, such as the lawyer and NFP stalwart, Richard Naidu. The (now very) occasional Fiji Times columnist has attracted the ire of … [Read more...] about # DIALOGUE FIJI’S NILESH LAL BUSTS THE ELECTORAL SYSTEM MYTH BEING PEDDLED BY RICHARD NAIDU

# ANOTHER NAIL IN THE COFFIN OF GENUINE MEDIA FREEDOM. THE COALITION BUYS OFF CFL-FIJI VILLAGE

Posted on April 5, 2025 30 Comments

There is genuine media freedom in any democracy in which a vibrant, independent media fulfils its duty to the public to hold elected governments to account. And there is the bullshit version of "media freedom" in Fiji, in which the Coalition government uses taxpayer funds to buy off commercial, non-government media outlets to secure their support. … [Read more...] about # ANOTHER NAIL IN THE COFFIN OF GENUINE MEDIA FREEDOM. # SO ARE WE RETURNING TO RACE-BASED VOTING OR AREN’T WE? PRIME MINISTER, THE MINORITIES DESERVE TO KNOW

Posted on April 4, 2025 28 Comments

Poor Dan Fatiaki. The former chief justice spent years in the judicial and political wilderness until the Coalition recently appointed him Chair of the Electoral Reform Commission to review the nation's electoral laws. His contributions to the national debate thus far have been confined to his prolific letters to the editor of the Fiji Times, … [Read more...] about # SO ARE WE RETURNING TO RACE-BASED VOTING OR AREN’T WE? # THE COALITION. DANGEROUSLY COMPLACENT AND HOPELESSLY NAIVE (UPDATED SATURDAY)

Posted on April 4, 2025 39 Comments

For weeks, even months, the world has known that Donald Trump intended to introduce wide-ranging tariffs to punish America's trading partners for what he depicts as their ripoff of American consumers and their unfair advantage in the global marketplace. The only question has been which countries would be hit hardest and by how much. So it … [Read more...] about # THE COALITION. DANGEROUSLY COMPLACENT AND HOPELESSLY NAIVE (UPDATED SATURDAY)

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
