# SELF-DELUSION WELL AND TRULY SETS IN (UPDATED SUN AM)

Posted on October 12, 2024 22 Comments

What are we to make of Saturday's address by the Prime Minister to the annual conference of the National Federation Party? One word sums it up: DESPERATION. The NFP leader, Biman Prasad, is desperate to keep Sitiveni Rabuka on side so that the Prime Minister throws him a life-line in any inquiry into the circumstances in which a FICAC charge of … [Read more...] about # SELF-DELUSION WELL AND TRULY SETS IN (UPDATED SUN AM)

# BARBARA-GATE. RIDING IT OUT ISN’T AN OPTION

Posted on October 12, 2024 16 Comments

To its credit, the Fiji Sun rips into the Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka, in its Saturday editorial, accusing him of dragging his heels in fulfilling his promise to conduct an official inquiry into what Rabuka himself has described as the "rotten" process associated with the appointment of Barbara Malimali as FICAC Commissioner. Clearly, the … [Read more...] about # BARBARA-GATE. RIDING IT OUT ISN’T AN OPTION

# NO HEALING WITHOUT JUSTICE AND PROPER CONDUCT

Posted on October 11, 2024 24 Comments

The former prime minister and Labour Party leader, Mahendra Chaudhry, nails it when he suggests the "nation is in denial" about a "government rocked by scams and scandals" that has left the electorate in "utter disgust". To underline his point came confirmation of Grubsheet's report three days ago that Lynda Tabuya would be guest of honour at … [Read more...] about # NO HEALING WITHOUT JUSTICE AND PROPER CONDUCT

# THE CORRUPT DRUNK WISHES US ALL HAPPY FIJI DAY. SERIOUSLY, BARBARA. WHO THE HELL ARE YOU?

Posted on October 9, 2024 18 Comments

Barbara Malimali is under investigation for abuse of office as Chair of the Electoral Commission after a colourful career that includes a drunken episode on a beach in Tuvalu and in a judge's bed that led to a criminal trial being aborted. She has also displayed corrupt conduct as the newly-appointed Commissioner of FICAC in clearing her close … [Read more...] about # THE CORRUPT DRUNK WISHES US ALL HAPPY FIJI DAY. SERIOUSLY, BARBARA. # THAT PHOTO AND A GOVERNMENT IN TOTAL DISARRAY

Posted on October 8, 2024 22 Comments

For the second day running, the Fiji Sun has devoted its front page to "that photo" - the scandal of Siromi Turaga, John Rabuku and Barbara Malimali socialising with each other when they are investigating each other for alleged abuse of office. Or more specifically, John Rabuku - the Deputy DPP - is meant to be investigating Barbara Malimali for … [Read more...] about # THAT PHOTO AND A GOVERNMENT IN TOTAL DISARRAY

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
