The DPP has issued a public statement to the media in response to the Fiji Sun report today (see previous article) suggesting that he is responsible for being "paid to do nothing" in which he lays the blame for the impasse over his reappointment with the Judicial Services Commission. He also reveals that he has copied in correspondence sent to … [Read more...] about # CHRISTOPHER PRYDE: WHY I AM ABSENT FROM FIJI

# CHINA MOVES TO DRIVE A WEDGE BETWEEN FIJI AND THE US OVER TARIFFS

Posted on April 11, 2025 11 Comments

There's an old saying stretching back to ancient Greece that "those whom the gods would destroy, they first make mad"*. And there's no doubt that the United States is in the grip of madness under Donald Trump. Trump's "America First" tariff policy is an unmitigated disaster for the West's relations with developing countries such as Fiji, not … [Read more...] about # CHINA MOVES TO DRIVE A WEDGE BETWEEN FIJI AND THE US OVER TARIFFS

# PLEASE GET BACK TO BASICS AND STOP THE NEVER ENDING BLAH, BLAH, BLAH

Posted on April 10, 2025 21 Comments

In December 2021 - a full year before the election he eventually won and when we were still on cordial terms - Grubsheet sent Sitiveni Rabuka a list of suggestions on which to campaign and close to the top of that list was to concentrate on service delivery. I'm sure I wasn't alone but here's an extract from that email: "I think you can … [Read more...] about # PLEASE GET BACK TO BASICS AND STOP THE NEVER ENDING BLAH, BLAH, BLAH

We will soon know now that Shailendra Raju has made good on his Facebook undertaking to hand an explosive recording he says is in his possession to the Supervisor of Elections, Ana Mataiciwa.* The disillusioned former People's Alliance stalwart and social media warrior has caused a minor sensation with the following posting that threatens to … [Read more...] about # WHO IS THE MYSTERY PERSON TRYING TO SECURE DONATIONS WITHOUT RECEIPTS WHO ALSO SAYS SITIVENI RABUKA IS TOO OLD TO BE PM?

# CFL’S IDEA OF PUBLIC SERVICE. “THE TRIBUTE TO OUR OWN RADIO STAR WAS THE BIGGEST SINCE MICHAEL JACKSON’S” (UPDATED WED AM)

Posted on April 8, 2025 16 Comments

Everything that is wrong with the Fijian media and the way it allows itself to be used as a PR tool for powerful vested interests is encapsulated in today's Fiji Sun story on the Coalition gifting $1.7-million of taxpayer funds to Communications Fiji Limited under the guise of "public service" broadcasting. The Sun's Managing Editor, Frederica … [Read more...] about # CFL’S IDEA OF PUBLIC SERVICE. “THE TRIBUTE TO OUR OWN RADIO STAR WAS THE BIGGEST SINCE MICHAEL JACKSON’S” (UPDATED WED AM)

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
