# MAC THE CROOK SINGS FOR HIS PARDON AGAIN (UPDATED SUNDAY)

Posted on November 23, 2024 16 Comments

The most corrupt relationship in Fiji is arguably that between the Coalition and its principal media cheerleader, the Fiji Times, which routinely ignores or distorts legitimate news unfavourable to the government and has become a strong advocate for its agenda to junk the 2013 Constitution. This effort is led by the owners of the Fiji Times - … [Read more...] about # MAC THE CROOK SINGS FOR HIS PARDON AGAIN (UPDATED SUNDAY)

# CORRUPTION AT THE HEART OF THE STATE. PART TWO (UPDATED FRI PM)

Posted on November 22, 2024 10 Comments

Barbara Malimali - the FICAC Commissioner - and her friend John Rabuku - the Deputy DPP - have again shown the nation the middle finger and violated all accepted practice by appearing in public at the ODPP's annual conference when Rabuku is supposed to be investigating Malimali for alleged abuse of office. It beggars belief that the substantive … [Read more...] about # CORRUPTION AT THE HEART OF THE STATE. PART TWO (UPDATED FRI PM)

# CORRUPTION AT THE HEART OF THE STATE. PART ONE

Posted on November 22, 2024 24 Comments

The shocking revelation that Fijian passports have been issued to the children of Grace Road members without official authorisation is rocking the government to its core. But for once, the responsible minister, Pio Tikoduadua, is giving the nation a masterclass in proper conduct vastly at odds with others in the "New Order". Last night, the Home … [Read more...] about # CORRUPTION AT THE HEART OF THE STATE. PART ONE

# NO ROOM IN FIJI FOR BONNIE BLUE. BUT STILL ROOM IN THE CABINET FOR BONNIE BLACK

Posted on November 20, 2024 33 Comments

The hullabaloo over the presence in Fiji of two porn stars who invite 18-year olds to have sex with them for free as long as they are willing to be filmed in the act has brought out all the usual hypocrisy in a society that is obsessed with pornography. Poor Bonnie Blue - the professional name of one of these blighted "ladies". She will have … [Read more...] about # NO ROOM IN FIJI FOR BONNIE BLUE. BUT STILL ROOM IN THE CABINET FOR BONNIE BLACK

# THE COUNTDOWN TO 2026 BEGINS. BUT CAN OLD DOGS LEARN NEW TRICKS?

Posted on November 19, 2024 22 Comments

I don't know about you, Fiji, but my first reaction to the news that Mahendra Chaudhry and Savenaca Narube are joining forces for the 2026 election was decidedly "ho-hum". Neither Chaudhry's Labour Party nor Narube's Unity Party managed to scrape together the 5 per cent share of the vote needed to secure any seats in 2022. And neither seems capable … [Read more...] about # THE COUNTDOWN TO 2026 BEGINS. BUT CAN OLD DOGS LEARN NEW TRICKS?

# EXPOSED. THE CHIEFS USING THE 2013 CONSTITUTION AS A SCAPEGOAT FOR THEIR OWN FAILINGS

Posted on November 17, 2024 49 Comments

It has taken an indigenous commoner, Jiaoji Savou, to call out the chiefs for their failures in the vanua and the way they are now blaming the 2013 Constitution for the ills of the iTaukei (see previous article). The following posting on Facebook is being widely shared, including beyond the favoured social media platform of most Fijians from … [Read more...] about # EXPOSED. About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
